Example: 3,1/3 x 2,1/4
step 1 -- Change each mix number to an improper fraction.
step 3 -- Multiply the numerators and then the denominators.
step 4 -- Put answer in lowest terms.  (Simplify )
step 2 -- Reduce if possible
2   4/ 6    *   3   2/7  =
Another example:
Multiply the two numerators together.
16 x 24 = 384
Convert each mixed number to an improper fraction.
Multiply the two denominators together.
6 * 7 = 42
Convert the result to a mixed number.
384/42   = 9   6/42
Simplify the mixed number. (by reducing the fraction part)
9   1/7
16/6
and
24/7
