mean:  A typical or central value for a set of numbers
found by adding the numbers in the set and dividing the
sum by the number of numbers.  It is often referred to
as the
average.
The middle or most common in a set of data. There are
three types of average in mathematics - the
mean, the
median and the mode.
Example: The mean of 4,5, and 9 is  (4 + 5 + 9) ÷ 3 = 6
The average is the same as the mean
When you are ask to find the mean, you are finding the

mode
Definition:The middle value in a set of data when the data are listed in order from
smallest to largest (or largest to smallest).  If there is an even number of data, the
median is the mean of the two middle values.
Example: The median of 4, 5, and 9 is 5. The median
of 4, 5, 8, and 9 is the average of 5 and 8
Definition: the middle point of a set of ordered numbers where half of the numbers
are above the median and half are below it.
The value or values that occur most often in a set of data.
Example: The mode of 3, 3, 4, 6, 7, 7, 7, 8, 8 is 7
Why? because there are more sevens than any other number.
