Dividing with money dollars and cents.
Dividing money is the same as dividing whole
number and decimals except you use the money and
cents signs.
Do the division in the usual way. Put a decimal point (.) and a
dollar sign ($) or cent sign (¢) in the answer.
Example word problem:
Linda sells 5 books. Each of the books cost the
same amount. The total cost is $35.00. How much does each
book cost.
Example word problem:
Divide $35.00 by 5 to find the answer
