Properties Involving Multiplication.
Commutative property: You can multiply two numbers
in any order and the product will be the same.
Example
4 x 3 = 12 and 3 x 4 = 12
Multiplicative identity property: multiply or dividing a
number by 1 does not change the number.
Example:
6 x 1 = 6 and 4 x 1 = 4
6 divided 1 = 6
Property of zero: any number multiply by zero will be
zero. The number can be in any order.
Examples
12 x 0 = 0 6 x 0 = 0 0 x 7 = 0
Associative Property: When three or more numbers are
multiplied, the product is the same regardless of the grouping of
the factors. For example (2 * 3) * 4 = 2 * (3 * 4)
Distributive property: The sum of two numbers times a
third number is equal to the sum of each addend times
the third number.
Example: 4 * (6 + 3) = 4*6 + 4*3
