Using Proportion to Find the percent of a Number
Example: What percent of 20 is 7?
The set should look like the picture below
Note: The whole is also call the base
7 appears with the word is, it's the PART so it goes at
the top
20 appears with the word of so it goes at the bottom
Find the cross product of the proportion
Missing percent = 100 x 7 divided by 20.
100 x 7 = 700
700 ÷ 20 = 35
7 is 35% of 20
