Perfect  squares and Square Numbers
perfect squares
To square a number, simply multiply it by itself.
Example:

The raise 2 means "Squared"
2 is the exponent. The bottom number is the base.
Perfect  squares are the number we get when we
square a whole number. The shaded 9 above is a
perfect square, because 3 x 3 = 9.
8 is a not a perfect square because there is no whole
number you can square to get 8.
Below is list of squared numbers and perfect squares. The
shaded numbers are the perfect squares.
Negative numbers can also be squared.
Decimal number can also be squared.
