Measurement Using A Metric Ruler

A metric ruler is use to measure centimeter and
millimeters.

1 centimeter (cm) = 10 millimeters (mm)

A centimeter is a unit of length in the metric system. 
There are 2.54 centimeters in an inch.

A 12 inch ruler is about 30 cm long.

 

Example of a centimeter (cm) ruler

There are 5 cm on the ruler above. There are 10 mm
between each cm

 

Examples:

The line segment above is 2 centimeter long or 20
millimeters.


The line segment above = 3 mm

 

The line segment above = 1-cm and 1-mm or 11 mm

This can also be read as 1.1 cm
